Comment (by Eben):
Oh, as another note, partial matching is absolutely essential to the idea
of an incremental search, which is the desired behavior as specified in
#2644. I put partial match and case-sensitivity highest on the list for
required FRS search features. Solid tag/metadata support follows. Boolean
logic and fuzziness are lowest on the list. The former can be added
anytime; the latter I actually see as a fantastic thing to have by FRS and
would rather not identify as low priority, but it might take more effort
to implement than the rest.
Also, it occurred to me that a title is really just another metadata
entry, so you can simplify the search into two main components, metadata
and full text, with the former being the portion which supports advanced
features such as partial match and fuzziness.
Finally, note that we require almost the same search feature set within
the Mesh views, and perhaps even within activities. It would be great if
all the work was implemented at a layer where it can be taken advantage of
across the board.
