Comment (by Eben):
I've attached an image containing mockups for several possible activity
palette designs, with varying amounts of information. The fixed aspect of
the design is the primary rollover, which should contain the icon, the
name (type) of the activity, and the title of the activity.
It would be great to generate previews so that one could peek at a drawing
they haven't worked on in a few minutes, or get a glimpse of the state of
a game, etc. I'm not sure we have this capability yet, though. The
screenshot wouldn't have to be live, but would need to be generated when
the home screen is focused and some reasonable amount of time has passed
since the last preview was created. Alternately, if it could be done fast
enough, you could generate upon rollover.
The options in the menu should be "Resume", "Stop", and "Show in
Neighborhood." The latter may not come until later, but the idea would be
to jump to the Neighborhood view and auto-filter so that only that
activity and its participants are revealed. We could also include "Share
with" and/or "Invite" options, with submenus for selecting groups or
buddies, respectively. Finally, when the "Stop" action is chosen, but the
activity doesn't quit in a timely manner, this option should change to
"Force Stop" or "Kill" or something similar, allowing a force quit.
