 I could reproduce this on one of the demo XO machines at
 [http://lca2007.linux.org.au/ linux.conf.au] while trying to access the
 Internet.

 linux.conf.au used a hotspot-style authentication, which required you to
 log on over a self-signed SSL connection before accessing the Internet.
 Because I couldn't accept the certificate, I couldn't get onto the 'net.
