 Those patches have helix hardwired, yeah. Supporting an extensible mime
 system would require:

 1 Finish up the design of the sugar object types system. I started
 discussing it with Eben on the design mailing list, but we are pretty much
 still in the brainstorming phase.
 2 Add a way to associate an activity with an object type to the bundles
 spec.
 3 Extend the sugar registry to support 2.
 4 Figure out how to integrate in the UI a way to open with a different
 activity. This is planned to go through the journal, but we don't have a
 journal yet.
 5 Implement 4 in the sugar shell.

 4 and 5 might be skipped if it's enough to assume we have only one media
 player installed for the moment.
