What Mark refers to as 'failure mode 1' looks like this:
{{{
Stage 1: Firmware verify PASS (usb8388mfg.bin)
Stage 2: Boot2 Firmware verify PASS (Boot2_Mfg_3104.img)
Found Libertas device on bus 001, device 003:
Vendor ID / Product ID: 0x1286 / 0x2001
Boot2 Version: 3102
Stage 3: Uploading 94 blocks:
R...............................................
Stage 3: Firmware upload complete.
Stage 4: Erasing Boot2 flash memory...
Stage 4: Error erasing Boot2 flash: No error
}}}
... and 'failure mode 2' looks like this...
{{{
Stage 1: Firmware verify PASS (usb8388mfg.bin)
Stage 2: Boot2 Firmware verify PASS (Boot2_Mfg_3104.img)
Found Libertas device on bus 001, device 003:
Vendor ID / Product ID: 0x1286 / 0x2001
Boot2 Version: 3102
Stage 3: Uploading 94 blocks: RRRR
Stage 3: Error uploading firmware to card: too many retries
}}}
When we try using the normal driver it also has failures but it's more
complicated -- it keeps failing to load the firmware and resetting the
device in an endless loop. It seemed easier to debug using the firmware
flash tool rather than the driver.
