Comment:

 After talking with Jim, it seems that in order to prevent the need for
 scaling in software, we should pick a cursor size no larger than 32 x 32
 px.  While this is smaller than we'd planned, I tried it out on some of
 our mockups and it still feels OK.  Actually, it's nicely in fitting with
 our current "XS" icon spec, which has an average size of 30 x 30 px and a
 stroke weight of 2.25 pts.

 Marco, let me know what format you'd like the cursor in.  Do you want an
 SVG, or do you want a rasterized format that hardware can handle?
