Booting the system is very long (>2 minutes for Build 194). This is a
collector bug for individual issues to keep track of progress in this
area.
* CAFE as FPGA is much slower than the ASIC
* #610 Unneeded SSH1 key generated on first boot (only affects first time)
* #194 Add bootchart to tinderbox
* #616 Kernel being in main file system doubles JFFS2 mount time.
* #617 JFFS2 garbage collection thread starts at boot time.
* #602 evdev startup is taking too long
* #618 OFW is taking a long time before the screen even goes on.
* #619 Sugar startup is slow
* #620 X Window System startup is slow
* #622 Window system and UI startup could be much earlier in the boot
sequence.
All in all, low hanging fruit is available that can greatly speed up boot
performance without much work. Lower priority that making suspend/resume
work and work fast, but often less work.
Many of these are projects that individuals in the community could take on
and help with.
As more boot performance issues are identified, please add them to this
ticket.
