 It is our intention to provide a boot process free of mode changes and
 screen flickers all the way from OFW to X.  As Chris Blizzard puts it, he
 wants "Mac circa 1996".  As per #519 we will attempt
 to maintain a white screen all the way to sugar startup.  We may or may
 not include a splashscreen (#534) but thats really not essential.

 There are three parts to this process - OFW, the kernel, and userspace
 (X).  Each of the interested parties should propose a plan.
