 The gear key doesn't work here; because Fn+GEAR means F12 due to the way
 the EC does key mappings.  We need to get that fixed and talk to Zephaniah
 (?) about what to do here.  Remember that Fn+1, Fn+2, Fn+3... Fn+-, Fn+=
 are actually mapped to F1 - F12.
