Testing summary - Auckland New Zealand, 8 May 2010

Who: Nevyn, Tabitha, Tom, John Morgan, John Graves, Abhishek

TuxMath-1 on XO-1.0
Too loud, could not find a way to turn it down and XO volume keys on
keyboard did not work

SocialCalc-5 on XO-1.0
On graph no X and Y axis labels
When you point at a menu button (not tabs), the content in the button
disappears on hover.
Cant find select all button, like select a column or row. It is not clear
what is happening when you click on column heading.
Played another activity, then went back - now cannot define minimum and
maximum ranges for X and Y - enter values, say ok, it sets back to 0 and 1.

WikipediaEN-20 on XO-1.5
Fast to start activity but slow to return the page you click on. Images real
slow. Took a minute to load the page. Shows two instances of wikipediaEN in
frame. Eventually one went away from frame, the other still sitting in frame
but now not appearing at all in process list. Got logs. Ticket in olpc
tracker - 10153

Scratch-12 on XO-1.0
Had a random child come visiting, probably about 9 or 10. That was fun, and
we learned that you have to start with the control menu to say run script
when flag pressed. Wonder if there could be a start template. When we quit
scratch it refused to stop. Tested on another XO and found Scratch would not
stop on that either. Got logs. Ticket in sugar tracker - 1991

Labyrinth-8 on XO-1.5
We could not drag to move boxes - had to resize mutliple times to reposition
the box.

Finance-3 on XO-1.5
We loved this activity. It took us a few minutes to work out the display
options but they are very cool. We like the terminology used and how easy it
is to see what you are spending money on and categorising income. Love it!
Didn't break it. The one thing we could not see was how we would put in a
recurring amount, like set pocket money each week or month.

Shutdown fail on XO-1.0
Trying to shutdown XO-1.0 by using shut down command from centre menu in
activity ring - get rainbow daemon error message. press okay and it goes to
the open activity (wikipediaEN). shut down the activity and then shutdown
from centre menu in activity ring and it did shutdown with no error message.
took photo of error message -

Tested SoaS-Blueberry on Eee 1001HA. Can't get webcam working.

Running record fails.
In: ~/.sugar/default/logs/org.latop.RecordActivity-1.log:
(plugin-scanner:1338): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin
'home/liveuser/Activities/Record.activity/gst/linux64/libgstvideorate.so' :
/home/liveuserActivities/Record.activity/gst/linux64/libgstvideorate.so:

(plugin-scanner:1338): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin
'home/liveuser/Activities/Record.activity/gst/linux64/libgstvalve.so' :
/home/liveuserActivities/Record.activity/gst/linux64/libgstvalve.so: wrong
ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Activity died: 1327 condition `139 data (None, <open file '<fdopen>', mode
'w' at 0x8a76c50>)

Had a go at trying to debug this as the EEE1001HA runs on a Intel Atom N270
which doesn't have 64-bit extensions. So removed
home/liveuser/Activities/Record.activity/gst/linux64/ and copied linux32 to
linux64 which removed the warnings but not the final line.
gst-inspect does not show the plugins.

John Graves, a PhD student at AUT, is doing the Open Allure project and is
looking at how this could work with the XO (Tim McNamara / timclicks is
looking at helping with this).
Open Allure is an open source voice-and-vision enabled educational software
project in Python. It aims to make interactive scripts easy to create (in
Wikipedia style) and play on all platforms--including XO. It can use voice
recognition (where available) and touchless pointing (using a webcam) and
text to speech (as with the Speak activity on the XO).

-
Able to play OGG/Theora videos within Browse activity, but not Flash from
YouTube. Frame for YouTube video displays, dots circle (as video loads),
then Gnash Error: MediaHandlerGst:: Couldn't find a plugin for audio type
audio/mpeg! -- MediaHandler:: no available FLASH decoder for codec 10
