I'm still testing the rpm, but at a first glance, the pulsing is
taking too much CPU. Looks like the whole full screen window is being
redrawn and X takes 20% cpu.

I remember something about a bug in hippo causing the whole canvas to
be redrawn every time. Any news on this?

As a quick workaround, the canvas could be just big enough to contain
the icon, this should improve things considerably.

I like it in general, though.
