[sugar] Activity gets extra circle icon

I asked a related question under a less than descriptive subject line 
(Native code and Dbus) but this better states it:

When my activity starts, an extra circle icon appears on the home screen 
and my activities icon continues to "throb".  Clearly this is an 
indication that something hasn't been done correctly in my activity 
set-up, but what?

I'm using "exec" and an activity factory in my activity.info.
