There will be, since there are field effect sensors to allow this.  But
they are not correctly wired up in the hardware on B2 machines at this
time, adn therefore are not available to user apps through sugar.
Eventually there will be a D-Bus interface to find out about this and
signals sent out on the bus when states change for various hardware bits
like the display and lid.
