Martin,

Tried with another USB stick - exactly the same result.

This is what I did using an Ubuntu 7 machine (same with the other stick):

DOWNLOAD mkusbinstall

- went to the page with the mkusbinstall, clicked on “raw”
and then saved the page that came up as “mkusbinstall”

- made the file executable

SET UP BOOTABLE USB STICK

- insert 2GB USB drive previously formatted with Windows
(FAT)
- start Partition editor, delete the existing partition

- Create new partition using all the space

- Try format to ext2 – partition editor fails
- Use Fdisk to create new p partition, plus toggle boot flag
- Return to Partition editor and format, it succeeds (but suspiciously quickly –
only 5-10 seconds)

RUN MKUSBINSTALL
- Run mkusbinstall from a folder with the OS image also inside

- It succeeds, but with errors (see attached screen shot)

- boot USB in the machine which I want to install the XS

- get the error below:

Hi David,

- You seem to be suffering from a bad USB stick.

- Please, let's get these things back on the list :-) You are getting
reasonably good answers, perhaps not easy to understand, but we can
help with that too.

cheers,
