[Server-devel] [XSCE] [DESIGN] proposal. install ka-lite-static instead of ka-lite

I have had this error as well. The only wrinkle is that we want the data in /library, not some arbitrary location chosen by kalite.

We could also try to validate the install prior to running, though I'm not sure how.

We could also explicitly install the dependencies.

Subject: [XSCE] [DESIGN] proposal. install ka-lite-static instead of ka-lite

Hi,

While setting up xsce, we had a power outage and now ka-lite setup isn't working because of some dependency errors even though it is installed(apparently). the error encountered is

<m_anish__> TASK: [kalite | Run the setup using kalite manage] ****************************
<m_anish__> failed: [127.0.0.1] => {"ansible_job_id": "152181539899.12630", "changed": true, "cmd": ["/usr/bin/kalite", "manage", "setup", "--username=Admin", "--password=changeme", "--noinput"], "delta": "0:00:00.312997", "end": "2016-01-25 11:22:11.126081", "finished": 1, "rc": 1, "start": "2016-01-25 11:22:10.813084", "warnings": []}

<m_anish__> FATAL: all hosts have already failed -- aborting

I propose that we install the ka-lite-static package instead of ka-lite so all dependencies are bundled together. this means addl download b/w but less failure rates perhaps.

this is not a release blocker, and can be taken up afterwards.

thoughts?
