[Server-devel] Static IP and DNS problems

Hello,

I tried to set up the WAN interface with a static IP address and DNS
pointing at the gateway, following instructions at

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/XS_Techniques_and_Configuration#Setting_a_static_I
P_address_for_eth0

I added the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0-local and the
line with forwarders to /etc/named-xs.conf.in and then ran the scripts

make -f xs-config.make named-xs.conf

/etc/init.d/named restart

And rebooted... This resulted in a configuration where one could connect to
the server with an XO and get an IP address, but no access to Moodle etc.

service ejabberd status

gives "Host name lookup failure" PPC failed on the node
ejabberd@@schoolserver: nodedown

I tried to reverse the change by deleting the ifcfg-eth0-local file and the
forwarders line and re-running the scripts above. But still get the symptoms
above

What should I be looking for?
