[Server-devel] SquidGuard and Google Images

Hello All,

I am installing a temporary filter(s) at a school in Nauru. The long term solution will use a Content Keeper SME appliance hosted by the government ICT department filtering all education traffic.

In the meantime I have set up the server for OpenDNS filtering which works fine (thanks Anna). However, it's not perfect as it doesn't help with one of the worst offenders, Google Images. Does anyone have any practicable ways to tackle that risk? Students searching images will inevitably come across stuff without even trying. Can the XOs be forced to use Strict Safe Search preference? For instance I know of one easy home application, browser based called K9 http://www1.k9webprotection.com/, will something like that work on the XO? It forces Google to use strict safe search.

Secondly, I am trying also to install SquidGuard. I have good instructions from Paraguay but come to the final line after installing squidGuard and Shillalist blacklists database

url_rewrite_program /usr/bin/squidGuard -c /etc/squid/squidGuard.conf

It replies "url_rewrite_program command not found"

What step is missing?

Sorry I am not too familiar with squid so I am just following the Paraguay instructions by the letter.
