I reverted the systems to the latest 2.6.26.8 kernel and it havent been 
on my priority list since.. unfortunately.

Allthough i would say it seems really hardware specific wether you hit 
this problem or not. On other hardware (same switch) 2.6.27 just worked 
flawlessly.
