I gathered some data on sawzall and threw it in a repository at
http://dev.laptop.org/git.do?p=users/danmargo/livecd-data;a=summary .
There's a README explaining what everything is.
Why Anyone Should Care: We're trying to figure out what packages actually
matter to the school server. sawzall has those packages, but it also has a
lot of development packages that we need to prune to build the live cd.
The file sawzall_pkgs contains a list of all 55 packages that were
user-modified (according to RPM's database) on sawzall. Including their
dependencies this would be ~400 packages, and sawzall has 729 total. If
someone who is knowledgeable about the school server could take a look at
sawzall_pkgs and verify that each one is (or is not) important to the
school server, it would be a big step towards pruning a light, useful
build. Ultimately we want some kind of justification for every package in
the kickstart.
Coming Soon -- a list of all the packages on sawzall that were neither
user-modified nor a dependency of a user-modified package.
