[Server-devel] Active Antenna problems

A problem with newer Active Antennas (distributed since Nov. 2007)  
has been found.
These Antennas will not be found by a server upon boot, due to a  
problem with
the built-in firmware which places the antenna in stand-alone  
repeater mode if it
is not accessed within seconds of power-up (http://dev.laptop.org/ 
ticket/4632).

These Antennas work fine if they are plugged in after a server has  
booted up,
but will only be properly recognized on hotplug if the server is  
running a new
release (> 136) of the XS server software.

We apologize for not addressing this problem sooner, and are working  
on the
tool needed to update the built-in firmware to fix the problem.
