I put some basic fixes into the RPM currently at 

  http://dev.laptop.org/~mstone/rainbow.rpm

Explicit cwd support and a fix for strace logging are probably the most
noticeable. Let me know if this one works for you and, if it does, I'll
push it to Koji as 0.7.4.

In the mean time, I'll see what progress I can make on uid/gid
collection.

P.S. - If you want to turn on strace, just define the env-variable
RAINBOW_STRACE_LOG in sugar/activity/activityfactory.py and Rainbow will
cause strace to print its output into the regular activity log file.
