[Peripherals] iPod on an XO?

An offline acquaintance suggested gtkpod - would that fall into the "not easily installed" or the "can't do this" category?

I realize MP3 players don't really fall under the original intent of the XO; I'm just trying to ascertain how best to accommodate generous family members while avoiding the XO being dumped in favor of Mom's laptop being perpetually "borrowed"...  :?
