[Olpc-za] Laptops to Lesotho looking for new President/CEO

After 5 1/2 years as head of Laptops to Lesotho (L2L), I will be stepping down as President at the end of this year, and shifting my focus to lesson development. As a result, L2L is searching for someone to take over and lead L2L into the future.

I was wondering if you might know of someone who has experience in Lesotho and would make a good leader who you could recommend.  Although we are a U.S.-based organization, the President doesn't necessarily have to be someone from the U.S.  In fact, I think it would be great if we could find someone from within the southern African community to lead this organization.

L2L is still supporting work at the two schools in Lesotho, serving nearly 600 students, and we are looking to expand to a third school in the Leribe District sometime in 2016, with groundwork being laid in 2015.  

We now have 7 Directors (including two in South Africa) and over 2 dozen part-time Volunteers in 4 countries, along with 2 Basotho Coordinators, shouldering the bulk of the day-to-day operations and organization work.  Two of the volunteers are handling fundraising, and I am in the process of trying to recruit several more, so that sometimes onerous task would not be a necessary part of the President’s duties.  

The new President’s job will primarily be to act as a figurehead and motivator, keeping the organization true to our founding philosophy and approach, and acting as a liaison with our counterparts in Lesotho.  The liaison work with the Basotho would be the bulk of the President’s job. That is why we are looking for someone who is familiar with Lesotho and has experience working with Basotho.   I plan to stay active on the Board, so I will be available to offer support and guidance, if needed, as the new President gets familiar with our work.

I would appreciate if you could ask around among your colleagues and see if they are interested or might know of someone who would be interested in getting involved with L2L.
