[Olpc-za] OLPC in Cape Town

We are deploying ICT solutions to township areas. Who do we contact to get a look at a model and evaluate? The feedback from people who have worked with the product is unfortunately very negative on the HW and SW front. I would like to be able to evaluate ourselves.

Would definitely be interested in a talk about the OLPC and Sugar. BTW has anyone given any thought about the possibility of getting local manufacturing involved? Surely OLPC doesn't stand for One Laptop Per Cent (of the Children of School-going Age =3%)

Sounds like we should have a get together some time with interested

people to discuss these issues... and I'm considering giving a talk at

UCT on OLPC and Sugar. I had the CS dept in mind but with the right

contacts we could make it broader in focus.

In the mean time, http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Deployment_Guide is

probably a good start to give you an idea of what is involved.

Feel free to ask specific questions on or off list,

Regards

Morgan
