I second that. Especially for the "Beginning Phase" face-to-face
meetings are extremely important IMHO.
At the beginning of OLPC Austria for example we had weekly meetings for
several months. That turned out to be a bit overkill at some point but I
do believe it was very important in the early stages in order to build
trust among the group, get to know everyone and also to really have a
lot of time to discuss and explore ideas and stuff. (We're now down to
monthly meetings with irregular work-sessions or a Saturday lunch
whenever required.)
