[Olpc-uk] Teacher Training Preparation - Saturday, 11 July 2009

Can you also get some feedback from the teachers about anything they will expect to be on the website for themselves or pupils and any other materials they expect (manuals, handouts, videos).

It will be much easier to plan for these during the summer than with a weeks notice in September.

Will a representative of the teachers be available during the summer to feedback about any educational resources that are created between now and September?

Thanks,

Phil

I have added Steve's points into the draft agenda for Tuesday - still required are a look at the applications that should be shown and anymore detail anyone thinks should be included.

Amir, please update us on further developments you have made toward a detailed agenda specifically for Tuesday.

Agenda
Tuesday 14th July
5:00pm Start

OLPC - vision, activities, etc.

XO laptop and Sugar
* understanding the various buttons and what they did (and didnt) do.
* XO startup / booting / basic attributes
* Connection to networks

Activities - run through a couple of activities and show how they can fit perfectly into National Curriculum requirements
* Selected list of activities to go through - in detail?

1) working out how top open it(!). i got there in the end and it seems obvious now. Martin had a good laugh at me while i tried to figure it out though
2) understanding the various buttons and what they did (and didnt) do.
3) getting it to connect to my home network. wpa and the build on the XO i have dont seem to play nice! possibly not an issue with the ones we have for the teachers though
4) figuring out all the activities. some seem obvious - write, record, some of the game ones. some are a little more tricky (although im sure there are instructions for them somewhere that i didnt bother to look up).
