Hi Fellow OpenSource in Education Fans.... here's the latest info on SCaLE 9X<br><br><b>OSSIE</b><br>SCaLE 9X, scheduled for next Fri- Sun (the 25th-27th) is shaping up to be a really fun event that should have something to interest everyone including the kids. The OSSIE track will run all day on Saturday and features robots, Etoys, and lots of info on how to implement open source in the schools. I will also be doing a presentation all about volunteering with OLPC and/or Sugar Labs and how you may be able to borrow one or more XOs to try your great ideas through OLPC's Contributors Program.<br><br><b>Exhibits</b><br>Our OLPC/Sugar Labs booth will be in the exhibit hall both Saturday and Sunday and will have plenty of XOs for you and the younger generation to play with. If all goes well, we may even have a microscope working with an XO! Other booths usually have interesting demos and displays and, sometimes some really cool S.W.A.G.<br><b><br>First ever FTF olpc-SoCall (OSSIE-CUE) Meetup</b><br>If you can be there Saturday evening, we have reserved a room at 7 pm at the hotel for our first ever olpc-SoCal/OSSIE CUE meetup. After that there will be a conference reception where the raffle prizes, including one Red XO-1 and one of the newest XO-1.5s will be given out.<br><br><b>Conference Flyers</b><br>SCaLE 9X has asked everyone who can to post flyers about the conference at their school or workplace. Even if you won't be able to attend, there may be someone else who would like to know about it.<br><br><b>Conference Pricing</b><br>Here are the conference pricing details, in case you missed them. The OSSIE track, along with admission to the exhibit hall is just $15! If you have more time and want to attend the whole conference, a full ticket costs $70 with 50% off for teachers and students. <br><br>If you just want to stop by for the exhibit hall, that is $10. They haven't officially announced the pricing policy for children, but they will probably be free.<br><br><b>Booth Volunteers</b><br>Four people have signed up to help with the booth and have received free registration in return. If you haven't registered yet and could help with a shift from 3 pm to 5:30 pm on Saturday afternoon or from 11:30 am to 2 pm on Sunday, we have one place available in each slot. It should be a lot of fun.
