</blockquote><div><br>This is actually bad news for me, as I was hoping to video a friend of mine opening her OLPC XO, and Google almost never allows videotaping on their premises. If it is at all possible to do some videotaping there, I am willing, of course, to have a Googler present at all times, and make sure that there is nothing to show that it is at Google. After all, the Google rooms basically just look like any other office building, even an office building in Redmond. Heh. <br>
<br>In fact, we have no video at all of Google or Googlers, because Google has such a keen reputation for discouraging video that I have never even asked Google PR for permission to interview a Googler about their role in the global digital tipping point. In a way, it is really a shame, in view of the fact that Google has played and will play a huge role in opening up the Internet and the desktop software industry. <br>
<br>It is also ironic, because one of the ways that we were able to minimize the role of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office at our local FOSS public middle school project in San Francisco was through the use of Google Docs and Spreadsheets. For two years near (almost, GDS has not been out a full two years) the school has used GDS to teach kids how to do stand-up presentations in front of their peers and "supervisor-like" people like teachers. <br>
<br>And yet we have no Google footage at all. Nada. Zip. Zilch. <br><br>So in addition to filming my friend opening her OLPC XO, it would be great if I could eventually get an interview with someone like Chris DiBona or (why not dream) even Sergey or Larry or Eric. <br>
<br>Sameer, do you think it might be possible for your to ask your Google contact to allow me to video my friend and the people and conversation at this Google OLPC XO meet up? Again, I would not be video anything Googley at all. It would just be us in a naked room. <br>
