[OLPC-SF] upgrade to 12.1.0 didn't go smoothly

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the pointers.  I also figured out that if I unmounted the tmpfs
partition that was on /var/tmp, yum would install stuff, no problem.  Still
not smooth, but I managed to make everything work with your help.
