I don't believe this to be correct as my girlfriend is a teacher my mother is a teacher and other friends and family members. Most people that I have spoken to about the XO, Linux, and FOSS are actually very intrigued by the "freedom". They especially love what the XO stands for as far as getting technology into childrens hands in places where they may not be able to afford it.

Teaching apps... Not so much on the grade school level. Having internet access and small flexible computers, YES that is what they seek. Teachers have also seemed to really enjoy the sharing activites and such withe the mesh network.

hi

IMHO, teachers care about teaching applications. They want to know how FOSS will save them from having to write grants or come up with their own lesson plans. They don't care about freedom. Sad but true.

They also care about having their kids get easy access to the Internet. Teachers also love having easy access, easy hide computers in their classrooms.

I _know_ that I could make XOs widely popular at the school that our SF-LUG supports with a Ubuntu lab. I only need about 50 XOs.
