I normally can recall the people in the group who regularly participate in the discussions we have. Its just my memory is slowly failing me. At the same time except for the few familiar names of people I constantly see in the discusssion sometimes I feel the current OLPC PH volunteer group do not exceed the number of my fingers. But I continue to hope the silent majority are still there actively reading ours discussions and thinking over how they can make a positive contribution to the OLPC program. <br><br>2. Technology of Asia Pacific College, teaching the introductory programming sequence. We currently use Java for this, after trying C and C++ and a few other languages. Before that I worked for 20 years in the industry on IBM midrange machines (= AS/400, using mostly RPG). Along the way I got an MComp from Monash Uni, where I was introduced to Smalltalk and Scheme.<br><br>I have followed the OLPC project with interest since its inception and welcomed the chance to participate in the project once it started here. Jerome suggested that I might do something with e-toys and Squeak, and I would love to get back into Smalltalk, even if it's been 17 years since I looked at Smalltalk code. I am also interested in developing educational materials whether in Smalltalk or Flash or other appropriate technology for teaching computer programming to children--here I'm thinking of my son who will be 11 next month. I want him to have a solid
foundation in programming (and of course I want the same thing for all the kids out there).<br><br>I should add (in response to another recent thread) that my son is in Xavier School and (as a parent) I would love for him to be using the XO and/or Sugar in his learning actvities.
