*Asia Pacific College's: Muscovado Project *
Submitted by: Ray B.

"The Muscovado project aims to develop localized educational content for,
and support deployments of, the Sugar Learning Platform in the Philippines.
The Sugar Learning Platform was originally developed for the One Laptop Per
Child XO netbook but now runs on most computers. By promoting the innovative
use of this technology, we hope to encourage collaborative learning and
critical thinking, leading to a quality education for our children." For

Wikimedia NYC eKindling Event*

Wikipedia celebrated its birthday in New York University and eKindling was
there to celebrate it with them. After presenting eKindling's work in the
Philippines, Marife M. and Ryan L. spoke about preserving local knowledge
through Wikipedia. How can we leverage students in the Philippines to create
wikipedia articles on their local histories, traditions, and culture?

*OLPC and eKindling Deployment*

*Lubang Deployment + Consultation Visit*

We are proud to present the first XO Laptop deployment in the remote rural
island of Lubang, Mindoro. This small island is filled with children the can
change their communities and the world. Through the XO laptop, and
activities like etoys, we aim to unleash their potential. In late November,
both Tessa Y. and Ryan L. visited Lubang to assess the infrastructure and,
knowledge base level of the educators, students, and other stakeholders in
regards to ITC in education. We will use our findings to build a customized
training and support program for the project participant. Read our guest

Training Program Development*

Learning from past OLPC deployments, we understand that the training program
and support mechanism are integral to the sustainability/success of the
program. Thus far, the training program will cover basic maintanence and
repair, using the XO, making integrated lesson plan, classroom arrangement
and management, overview of available digital content. Educators, selected
students and parents, and municipal support team will take part in the
training session
