Hi All,

I neglected to copy the list on this. There's an attachment to this. It is a
compilation of projects that I did with Etoys. It's the same projects that I
presented on the video for FUSE ( Foundation for Upgrading the Standards of
Education). You will need to install Etoys to run these which is pretty
relatively easy to do: www.squeakland.org . I was trying to put this in the
Filipino context so the fish is actually a bangus (Philippine's National
fish). :-)

If you get the chance, please play around with them. I am willing to answer
any questions you have an be on a Skype call with you to walk you through
it. I am working on an ebook and project for teaching geography with the
Philippine map and game and that and I will email the list when it's done.

BTW, Have I mentioned that these can be done by children for younger
children with minimal instructions? The projects done by children from all
over the world are highlighted in both Squeakland's showcase section as well
as www.etoysillionois.org

Now close your eyes and imagine Filipino children's work on that website
sharing to the world their thoughts and creativity. I personally CAN NOT
wait for that day! :-D

Can you?

Hi Caroline,

I am copying the education team on this e-mail.

I'm attaching some possible start-up projects done in Etoys that I forwarded
to Nigeria (sorry I'm missing the audio for the fish race one..but I was
hoping for it to be an example on how to teach phonics). These can be done
by older kids for younger kids. There are also several simple things that
the kids can do like making their own haikus, word games, or making their
own interactive e-books for instance. Tim Falconer has extensive tutorials
on getting this started. For references, the Squeakland showcase site
includes works by kids in 4th grade from places like Nicaragua and Haiti.
Just to show what the kids can do on that level and having English as a
second language.

Our main contact in Uruguay is Carlos Rabassa. He's also a volunteer with
RAP Ceibal. I am copying him on this e-mail as well. There are several
teachers in Uruguay that are adopting Etoys on their lectures and we'd be
happy to put Bonnie in touch with them.

Let us know how we can further help with this.

Regards,
Cherry
