Hey Ray! Fantastic!
My concentration w/ volunteering for OLPC dev is with cross-platform
solutions, and Flash fits the bill.
Also, we now have an official Adobe Flash & Flex Coder User
Group/community accredited and supported by Adobe -> Phlashers:
Philippine Flash Actionscripters
You can find a little more info about it at http://www.phlashers.com
and it would be great if your co-faculty members who teach Flash and
the students doing Flash programming can join us :)
I'll PM you more details.
Meanwhile, Flash is also a great way to create content for the XO.
We can go with Gnash on the browser or in standalone mode in XO OS
(Fedora 9 + Sugar), or with Adobe Flash in the browser(s).
I'm checking if Adobe AIR will run on the XO, whether on XO OS or
other distros like Ubuntu XO or Fedora XO. If it runs well, we can
also add that to our list of content creation paths.
Best regards!

As a teacher and father of a 10-year old son I see the potential for OLPC and Sugar to revolutionize teaching computer programming. My computing experience is best described as eclectic; a lot of RPG early on, then Smalltalk and Scheme when I was doing my Master's, currently mostly Java. I have used Python for a first course in programming but not done any real projects in it. We have used Moodle for some time here at APC; perhaps I can help with the Sugar-Moodle integration (though I'm not a PHP programmer either). Or recruit some students to develop educational Flash content--we have some good young Flash programmers.
