Hi guys! Doc Mana has replied to my query regarding the possibility of
creating a custom lightweight distro for OLPC Philippines, or
something even lighter than Teapot's Ubuntu Intrepid for the XO.
Do we have an extra unit we can maybe lend to him for distro hacking?
I just got back the unit I lent to DISCS because I need at least 2
systems/environments for Flash dev testing/experimentation, and the
3rd I just recently sent to Gabby Dizon & Game Developers Association
of the Philippines (GDAP) for evaluation and possible edugaming
content creation from Filipino game developers.
I'm out of units at the moment :-/

"A trimmed-down Xubuntu that includes only the drivers for the XO-1
(possibly recompiled kernel to force-include just those drivers)
with only a selection of the most useful packages might be your
answer to the fat problem. I tried the Ubuntu netbook remix on my
MSI Wind, but I found it less than usable.
The Ubuntu "remastersys" will be useful in building the fat-less
distro for the XO-1.
Are you just picking my brains for a one-time answer, or do you want
to lend me an XO-1 to try my ideas on?
