[OLPC-Philippines] OLPC-Philippines Digest, Vol 15, Issue 6

Please don't base this upcoming time on my schedule as I have mentioned
earlier that I won't be
able to attend this one (will be on vacation with family and won't have
access to the internet).
But please feel free to e-mail me some action items.

Items on the agenda that I would like addressed:
1) Agree on our official line of communication/regular meetings/logistics
for these regular meetings etc.
    - is there a "cleaner" way for a new member to read about our progress
or past meeting minutes.
    - should we have separate meetings for the development team and just
have a liaison?

2) Forming the organization: do we form our own non-profit to address where
we funnel the funds or
do we ask the main OLPC to allocate money for deployment in the Philippines?
I guess originally the idea
is for the country's government to foot the bill on getting these computers
but doing so in the Philippines would
be akin to pulling teeth. We might have to think of private funding
therefore we need to figure out how to
store these funds. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one, when someone hits
"donate" on the main OLPC site,
the funds go towards the approved countries for deployment. Since we're not
on the list, a donor can't choose
Philippines a recipient country?

3) If we have to form the non-profit, where should we do it (Philippines or
US what are the different tax
implications, etc. )? We also have to appoint board members and officers to
this organization.

Sorry if these were already addressed in previous meetings I'm in the dark
here.

Cheers,
Cherry
