Thanks Ryan! Unfortunately, I won't be available to join this meeting but
would be interested
in joining the next ones. Is there a "Meeting Minutes" archive to look at so
I know what you
guys have talked about?

While I think the development of XO is an interesting topic, I hope you'd
start with
the agenda that you proposed Ryan on the facebook account (mainly on the
organization).
A deployment guide is provided by OLPC on this page:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Deployment_Guide

I concur, it seems the group is going on different directions and unless we
centralize our efforts to get funding
and actually get deployed, these efforts might be moot.

For future reference, I'm based in California and I'm available from
9pm-12am US PST (1pm-4pm Philippine time).

Below are my experiences/skills, goals for the organization and time
commitment :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skills and Experience: Worked as an electrical engineer for 4 years doing
board design, ASIC verification and FPGA design and verification.
I'm decent with C++, some PERL, UNIX and could pick up and learn another
language if needed. Currently, I've learned
some webpage authoring and MySQL enough to design a webpage and database for
a company: www.momworx.net. Used
Adobe CS3 design suite and PHP for this. I can read and do basic PHP but
admittedly still weak on it.

Goals for the organization: While I'd like to do some development work for
the XO someday, I'd like to initially
work on the out-of-country funding for OLPC-Philippines. I can take on
adapting
the main OLPC (www.laptop.org) website to get our own OLPC-Philippines PR
website. I can work on
PR such as e-mailing, and help with the efforts of centralizing the
different lines of web communication. I can also look
for different PR opportunities here in Northern California to promote the
cause.

Time Commitment: I'm currently a stay-at-home mom, but I have time to spare
(5 hours/a week at least) to work on the above goals. I have
about 2 years to dedicate to OLPC-Philippines before I head back to work.
My hours on-line: 9pm-12am and I'll have my
facebook account open for chats around those times. I'd be willing to log on
to IRC/#olpcph for a couple of days a week as a point
person for communication.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My prayers are for us to succeed! A child's potential can only go as far as
the tools provided for him. Mozart's
genius wouldn't have been realized if he wasn't provided a piano at a young
age.

Cheers,
Cherry
