Thanks to Chris Ball for that thorough takedown!  Although I do give the 
takedownee (sorry, forgot his name) more points for good intentions.  (I 
don't mean that at all in a snarky way.)

This is a very important issue.  Smart people are in short supply, and 
it makes sense not to waste them no matter which gender they are!
