For future OLPC projects, perhaps someone can design small modular cluster. There are tiny computer modules such as Compact Flash Computer from CDatas:

For certain embedded applications, the device will use only 1 CPU module. The future laptops will use 2 or 4 CPU modules. The future server will use 16 modules etc. For connection between modules, it can use some sort of bus (Hypertransport / HTX) such as Compaq Proliant or Sun hardware. Each module will have the CPU, memory controller, memory. For most I/O perhaps it's better to use Certified Wireless USB / WUSB (1 Gbps).

This idea mean 1 module design can be mass produced and used for multiple devices.

Another idea is using XO laptops motherboard and casing as the basic Do It Yourself laptops:

Other possible applications:
1. Medical/Hospital such as data input/display devices, telemedicine for rural areas.
2. Information at museum, art gallery, digital gravestone/memorial.
3. Sales person, courier/package tracking, car diagnostic.
4. Home automation/home security (digital camera).
Any other ideas?
