For one, any X11 app should run unmodified out-of-the-box. To make it  
into a fully Sugar-compliant activity, see

I think someone was working on a "sugarizing" tutorial, until then,  
the above documentation is about all you get.

Another possibility is a hybrid activity - a Python/GTK wrapper  
around a regular X app. This is how Etoys started out (it now is a  
native activity), but I think SimCity still does this.
