In the Solomons we have a UNESCO/MEHRD collaboration where teachers have been collaborating with ICT to develop lesson plans related to a local language conservation wiki (online version of the "Reef and Rainforest" Marovo book). The idea is to use another Open educational resource (the WikiEducator) with a template that allows teachers to enter their lesson plan ideas using a "what you see is what you get" template consistent with the MEHRD's policies. Then a wider range of stakeholders can contribute and the MEHRD can quality assure - all online. More info :

Video Lesson Plan Challenge
Submit your best video-based lesson plan to win $5,000!
All Curriki members are encouraged to submit their student-oriented K-12 lesson plans and student-facing games/activities utilizing video cameras.

Awards
Four Awards will be granted.

Grand Prize: $5,000
Three Runners-up: $500

Submission Deadline: July 31, 2011.
Winners Announced: August 31, 2011.

Judging Criteria
Lesson plans may cover any subject area(s) and cross-curricular lesson plans are encouraged.
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  *   Must utilize one or more video cameras.
  *   High degree of innovation and originality.
  *   High degree of student involvement.
  *   May be project- or inquiry-based.
  *   Must be aligned to State (at least 1 state/subject area/grade level) and/or Common Core Standards for ELA and/or Math as appropriate.
  *   Lessons must follow the Extended Lesson Plan Template. All fields must be completed: Title, Description, Summary, Lasting Ideas & Results, Essential Questions, Learner Outcomes, Standards Alignment, Assessments, Pre-requisite Knowledge and Skills, Procedures, Materials, Modifications, Adaptations & Accommodations, and all required attachments must be included.
  *   Student-facing activities must be interactive.

How to Enter
Simply share your most creative and cutting edge lesson plan or student-facing activity idea that incorporates video as a primary medium by July 31, 2011.

Step 2: Login to Curriki and join the Video Challenge Group<http://curriki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Group_VideoChallengeGroup/>.
