Testing summary - Auckland New Zealand, 18 December 2010

XO-1.0 tests on 359 customized, 0.84.29
Tested Record - got it a bit confused when trying to view an existing video
directly after recording and before it had saved, but everything else was
fine
Tested Implode - completed two levels, but not the third (too hard)
Tested Memorize - collaboration tested on local wifi, had 3 XOs (all this
build) and two were on local wifi when activity was shared so could join but
third XO was not on wifi at time so could not see Memorize in neighbourhood,
"invite to" worked. Played some games with 3 XOs, then created an game to
share and successfully played the created game a couple of times (4x4 and
6x6).
Tested Paint - used variety of tools, colours and shapes, added writing.
Tried to use the effects (invert colors) and activity came to a standstill
for a significant amount of time, eventually resuming.
Terminal starts and is usable.
Tested TamtamMini - works
Tested Measure - works, no difference between rising and falling edge, had
no sensors for sensor testing
Tested Maze - works with all 3 controllers
Tested Moon - works
Tested Help - works, get images and words for each page, except for the
keyboard shortcuts page has a missing image
Tested Speak - when writing in another language the robot doesn't respond,
can be hard to understand robot when it speaks long phrases (tried adjusting
speed)
Tested Chat - works with 3 XOs
Tested Write - 3 XOs joined but as each is writing it is not syncing though
it did give the first sentence. Looked at logs but couldn't see what caused
the issue. Restarted all 3 XOs, original writer resumed the same story and
only her writing is appearing on all 3 that are collaborating. All 3 can
write now though and they all receive each others writing and images. Added
table and resized successfully. Formatted text successfully. Went to change
view zoom and activity crashed on two XOs. Tried rejoining but don't get all
the content. The XO that still had the full version saved it, closed it and
reopened it, shared it and everything appears on the XOs that join the saved
copy (pictures, words, table). It would be good if the user writing colour
could match the XO identifying colours. Crashed on another XO when one left.

Tested Log activity - could view logs and wrap them.
Tested browse - could navigate and could download images.
Tested Turtleart - works
Tested Scratch - works

XO-1.5 tests on 367 OLPC-AU, 0.84.16
Image follows the same naming conventions as the olpc builds, I got very
confused about which builds I needed to copy from my desktop to my laptop
before leaving for testing. Could the image files be called osXXXau.zd? That
would reduce my confusion a lot.
Has both Wikipedia (spanish, some pictures) and WikipediaEN (english, no
pictures). If you attempt to start both at the same time, the second will
fail with an error binding the server port. Should they run on different
ports? WikipediaEN seemed very very slow, slower than I remember the old
Wikipedia on the sugar 82 builds on XO-1. The slowness was made worse by a
lack of feedback, when you click a link, nothing appears to happen except
the "finger" pointer remains even when not over a link, eventually the
reload button becomes a stop button which is the only clue anything is
happening.

Installed Image Thumbnail 7 on os367 OLPC-AU. It took a very long time to
start and I thought it had crashed. It seemed to load all the files from the
browser cache and the help. Was this intended? If this is supposed to be a
picture viewer, including the browser cache will make it difficult to find
your own pictures. Could the show file button be removed and the picture
shown whenever you click on it?

Merry Christmas! See everyone on 8 January, happy holidays ;-)

Kind regards
