National Library are hosting a hackfest this Saturday.

They'd love for the OLPC testing group to turn up - and they're
putting on catering for us too.
Edward and I will be there (Tabitha's in Auckland). It'll be great for
the rest of the team to show up.

See below, it's 10am-5pm, Saturday 20 June 2009
Lower ground floor conference room, National Library of New Zealand
Corner of Molesworth & Aitken Streets, Wellington

If you can RSVP to me or to Jo Eaton below by Friday that would be
great. They say they have kept 15 places for us, but would like to
know how much coffee/pastry/pizza/beer to order for us.

Come along and
- Give our API a decent thrashing
- Whip up some code samples to help other developers kick-start their
own creations
- Make nice stuff!
- Consume pizza, beer and sugary confections
- Score secret freebies - so secret, even we don't know what they are yet

Bring yourself and your laptop. We'll provide the WiFi.
This is a low-key event - feel free to come along for however long you
can, even just a couple of hours.

RSVP to jo.eaton at natlib.govt.nz

DigitalNZ Search aggregates information about NZ digital content from
more than 40 content providers and makes them available via an API.
You can get a glimpse of what's inside at http://search.digitalnz.org

Here are just a few examples of what you could get up to:
- Image analysis of thumbnails and search by colour
- Build an advanced search based on DigitalNZ facets
- Example mashup with Eventfinder
- Road-test the Ruby Gem
- Extend the DigitalNZ Timeline app from MIT's Simile project

A few designery-CSS-type-folk will also be in attendance, if you would
like to make your app look pretty.

We hope to see you there.

Kind Regards,

Jo Eaton
