<br><br>After many months of hard work by OLPC engineers and the open source<br>
community, XO Software Release 8.2.0 is available for download.<br>
<br>
As of this week, all new XOs leaving the factory will be installed with<br>
8.2 unless otherwise specified.<br>
<br>
Installation instructions, an overview of the main new features and a<br>
list of important open bugs can be found at:<br>

This release includes:<br>
- New and updated translations<br>
- GUI access to basic settings (e.g. language, radio on/off, activity<br>
update, and preferences for opening the frame)<br>
- Easy access to all activities from the Home view<br>
- Device status on the frame (network, power, audio)<br>
- Backup and restore from XOs to XS<br>
- Hundreds of bug fixes<br>

This major redesign of the XO GUI and underlying software will be very<br>
valuable for XO users.<br>
<br>
We hope you can test and qualify 8.2.0 for your XO country as soon as<br>
possible.<br>
<br>
If there are serious issues preventing you from using 8.2, please get us<br>
a list of critical items that you need resolved. In that case, please<br>
let us know your schedule and any deadlines for upgrade and deployment.<br>
<br>
Let us know when you can qualify the new release for your country and<br>
when you can start using it.<br>
