Cool that you're using our patches :D

Honestly, I consider this to be a hack (albeit, an extraordinarily
useful one). What we have done is make the proxy as set in gconf also
available as the http_proxy environment variable, so that Sugar can
use it.

I think that longer term, it would make more sense for Sugar to use
gconf directly for its proxy settings.
