[OLPC Networking] data collection and analysis

I am teaching a course this semester on IT/network audit and would like
to demonstrate the underpinnings of mesh networking. Is there any
specific tool or methodology for collecting traffic data that I can pull
into Ethereal for analysis? ping works, but I couldn't find tcpdump on
the XO. I was planning to dump the output to a SD card and analyze it
offline.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.
