[Localization] Progress with Telugu translation so far.

Hi,
My progress with Telugu translation so far.
This is a Pootle newbie post.
I use ubuntu gutsy with gedit editor.
Vemana 2000 is the default unicode Telugu font in Ubuntu and not Lohit
Telugu which comes with XO. ( I did not know how to make Lohit as system
default in Ubuntu but managed to get it in gedit editor successfully. How
ever there are some font issues, which I will come to latter.)
My steps.
I learnt how to type in Telugu with RTS SCIM method.Then I posted a ticket
for opening up Telugu translation and lo and behold I landed with admin
rights after few days.

The system I followed
First preference are words in common usage. Next are words as used in news
paper and Telugu text books. For more recent technical terms such as
"online" and "off-line", I used the same words but in Telugu script, as in
these situations newspapers also use the same words.
I have taken some liberties, as mentioned in my previous post to make words
with gender in to genderless words.
I worked on po files directly with gedit editor and uploaded the files to
pootle. Because I am the only person doing Telugu translation and have admin
rights, I am checking from the admin page to see if there are any new users(
there are none till now), and I am simply uploading and overwriting files to
correct my mistakes or use better words.
Once I know there is more than me then I probably use merge rather than
overwrite.
I have almost completed the XO core files. (I will upload last night's work
once Pootle works again.) I am a little confused re words with % strings at
the moment, so I need to correct them later. There may still be mistakes as
I do not know context. I could not make my translation work in my ubuntu
sugar-jhbuild, even after successfully making mo file with ever helpful
Sayamindu and installing Lohit Telugu font. The Telugu script shows up as
those wretched  "unicode squares" in the sugar screen. I am hoping to get an
XO in the next few weeks ( I bought it from a US G1G1 donor 4 weeks back
and  it is stuck at UK Customs services. Can you believe it!!! ). I was
helpfully reassured that my translations will have less trouble in the
actual XO unlike in my sugar-jhbuild.
Re XO Bundle
I am waiting for help form back home re XO bundle as most are music and
calculus related technical words. I never had opportunity to learnt music as
a child ( If only I had XO in my childhood) and my last contact with any
serious maths equations was more than 20 years back. I am a children's
doctor now.  I am asking help from my father who is a retired Telugu teacher
and his school colleagues for help with these technical words along with
some friends here. It will take time to get all the words back and forth, as
there is no reliable Internet connection at my home in India. ( I am
currently in UK)

The problems I had
1) when I was making "suggestion" in the pootle website, it does not give
any user  feedback (as it happens when I submit words) to show that my
suggestion was received so I clicked 10 or more times only to realise, when
I am reviewing suggestions on the admin page that all those 10 repeats are
there. I also realised I can never check fuzzy tick box in pootle. (I think
I managed it last evening)
However if I submit a word as I am admin it immediately shows up.
Is it possible to show all the suggestions made by all previous volunteers
as well on pootle page along with submitted words so that volunteers effort
is not wasted in suggesting the same word again and again, especially when
more people are involved. It also becomes easier for checking and submitting
as it avoids repetitions.
Lohit Telugu is displaying some fonts incorrectly especially those with
multiple consonants in a character. I think I may not be explaining properly
here, but Indian script users might know what I am talking about.
For example: XO ఎక్స్ ఒ, looks without errors in vamana2000 (Ubuntu
default), but it is a stylized font. Lohit Telugu (XO default) is showing
with errors. Pothana2000 <http://www.kavya-nandanam.com/dload.htm>, another
GPL font shows without stylizing and without errors. It is similar to the
font used in Telugu text books. Is it possible to use other fonts. If it is
I will check all my translation in Pothana2000 as well and see if it has
errors elsewhere. I am enclosing pictures to get some visual idea.

Errors committed
1) In error I submitted a file named as "te.po" rather than "sugar.po" and I
can't get rid of it. Sayamindu kindly agreed to take care of my mistake.
There might be lots more, to be discovered.
