no, it will not in any case! When the linux kernel is up it
needs to detect the CD-drive and use a working driver. 
If you read the messages from beginning you may find the reason
why it does not work on the DELL PC's. Maybe the commands
lspci, dmesg will help too.

yes I know, but on a LiveCD RAM is also used for the filesystem.
I didn't have the time to squeeze down the requirements for
this release, but I will try to do so next time.

Yes I tried, but the current sugar version changed to ignore
any existing configuration and just enables all activities which are 
available.  Again, I hope this will be fixed next time.

probably its  best to try all versions. None of these is perfect.
