Hi David,
good work! I will try out one of your Live-CD's this weekend.
Yes I am planning to continue support for XO-LiveCD's which are based
on the official XO build images for several reasons:
* the build images are continuously maintained, developed and
tested on XO hardware. Probably you know the useful status
page from Bert:
http://dev.laptop.org/~bert/joyride-pkgs.html
* using the results of OLPC people work,
minimizes the work for Live-CD maintenance
* I want to provide a LiveCD which can easily customized of
all kind. If you read the documentation and look on the
CD directory structure you will see that the XO build image is
separated from configuration, activities, additional RPM
packages etc. This makes it easy to remaster the LiveCD
for special usage, for example: add more language support,
preselection of activities, which children should in the classroom
and much more.
Anyway, technology is always changing. Personally I am not very familiar with
Fedora and would prefer to have Debian based images.
In my opinion providing Sugar packages for Debian
is a good way to go, I like the development regarding Debian Live, and of
course their should be Sugar Live-CD's based on Debian/Ubuntu.
regards
Wolfgang
