As part of the Sophie project (http://sophieproject.org) we worked on
porting Sophie to the XO, but the ongoing changes and no funding stopped
that effort.
However, we do have a Sophie book server, where Sophie books can be
uploaded to and downloaded from. At Impara we have been also working on
a web reader for Sophie books, which would allow to read Sophie books in
a normal web browser without the need for a plugin.
With the HPI in Potsdam we extended an early prototype to support
annotations. comments etc
(http://www.swa.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/projects/sos/index.html).
If you are interested I can give you access to our test versions.

With Sophie we have implemented a web service to access OKI supporting
repositories, but are not very happy with it for a variety of reasons.
We are looking at using Fedora as a repository back-end with Sophie. I
installed Fedora and did some tests. Their web service API is well
thought out and it runs in small installations as well as large,
distributed systems. Definitely my favorite so far.
